Those of you who regularly
attend our Annual Parish
Church Meetings will be aware that for many years now our regular
income has
not been enough to cover our church running costs and our reserves,
which came
from a substantial bequest in 1998, have now almost gone. In order to
make sure
that the work of the church in Leigh-on-Mendip can continue we would
appeal to
everyone in the village to consider whether they would be prepared to
offer
their financial support. I have prepared a breakdown of the
church’s regular
income and running costs, which is now displayed in the church porch
and there are
some Pledge Forms in the church for
anyone willing to make a regular contribution
to church funds.
I appreciate that most people in
the village lead
busy lives and are not able to attend church services whenever they are
held, but
hope that you will consider how much the work of the church means to
you and
support us in whatever way you can.
Thank you for your support – Margaret Loten, St Giles’ Church Treasurer
August 2010
The Church Choir, although having many members from the village, is not actually 'the' Leigh-on-Mendip Church Choir. It has members from LonM and the surrounding villages and performs at all three churches within the Vicar's Parish. They have been together as a choir since 2000 and are growing in stature and numbers. They would like to hear from any 'singer' who would like to join, what is fast becoming a very professional outfit under the auspices of Simon Francis. Practice is normally on Thursday evening between 7.30 & 9pm at either St Giles (Leigh-on-Mendip) or St Michaels (Stoke St Michael). Simon can be contacted on 01749-840260.
