Minutes of Meeting Held on 6^th July 2004

Minutes of previous meeting were agreed and signed.

Treasurer's Report Two unforeseen bills meant that some of the money transferred to the PO account had to be withdrawn again incurring a small penalty of £1.24. KC noted that Mrs Rabbitts had not collected her wages for last two quarters but he expected this shortly. One hundred club draw was made including the quarterly large prize of £38 which was won by Dave and Barbara Turner.

Booking clerk's report No new bookings, the usual tailing off for the summer. To look at keeping table cloths in kitchen cupboard when not being used by hirers.

Correspondence 1) New No Smoking notice from Insurers 2) Information sheet from Charities Commission re them starting to provide a service over the internet.

Maintenance 1) No contact yet from Paul B re possible diffusers fitted to strip lights in kitchen 2)Wire fence and concrete post removal, SV was concerned that the removal of the whole wire fence as far back as the first shed would result in even more litter and possibly dog’s mess being left on the grassed area. There was also a comment from the Parish Clerk that it marked our boundary at that point as it had been in place for some time and she did not feel it sensible to remove this, SV agreed and after some discussion the committee decided to ask Brian Loten to simply remove the broken front post and to repair or replace the first one attached to the fence if necessary. 3) Car Park. SV had obtained two quotes but for differing specs. To go back to both with requirements now agreed by committee, SV to consult other committee members before going ahead with any work. 4) GB had planted up the front tubs and the committee agreed they looked very smart. 5) GB had contacted Mendip re provision of bin outside hall but they still would not provide this free of charge and required £6 a week to empty one which the committee agreed was too expensive.

Fund Raising Congratulations were given to GB and to Anne Orpwood of the WI for their hard work at this year’s Fete, thank you to all committee members who gave their time to help, as last year we all found it an enjoyable if rather tiring experience. We understand the “pay out” may be around £250 per group.

AOB Decided have enough feet for screens now excess screens disposed of. Under stage clear out very successful, many thanks to Brian and Margaret Loten who not only played a large part in the clearing and sorting work but took a whole trailer load of rubbish away for us at the end! The pool table is going to be taken by Vicky Higgins for children at the respite care centre she works at and everyone thought this was an excellent plan for a piece of equipment which has gone unused for many years.
