The Somerset Landscape Scheme

Do you want to improve your local landscape?

The Somerset Landscape Scheme, which is run and jointly funded by Somerset County Council, district councils in Somerset, the Aggregate Levy Fund and the Environment Agency, aims to conserve and restore the best features of the Somerset landscape & create new traditional features, which will be attractive or have wildlife value.

Grants of up to £500 are awarded for work including hedge laying and planting, traditional standard orchard restoration, small woodland management, willow pollarding, dry stonewall restoration, planting native trees, pond restoration and management of County wildlife sites. There are fixed rates of grant for each type of scheme, but the grant amounts to 30-50% of the total cost.

Community groups and parish councils, as well as private landowners can apply for grants and the application process is kept as simple as possible to encourage uptake and minimise bureaucracy.

If you are interested in applying for a grant, or simply want further information on the Somerset Landscape Scheme, please contact Phil Stone on 01823 355617.
