LEIGH ON MENDIP PARISH
COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON 20 OCTOBER 2003
Councillors present: G Jeanes, P Moore, J Wright, M Taylor and
N Park – Chairman.

The meeting was attended by Jonathan Layzell, Senior Rural Housing Enabler for Mendip District Council and Caroline Hughes, Assistant Development Manager for Knightstone Housing Group who wished to give the Parish Council an informal briefing about the recent village housing needs survey and land in Leigh on Mendip owned by Somerset County Council. Jonathan Layzell and Caroline Hughes will send a representative to the next meeting to present further information.
The MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING were accepted as a true record and signed.
MATTERS ARISING-
Website – see correspondence in circulation.
Roads and footpaths – some now marked up with green paint. Is action imminent?
Recreation field - costings have not yet been received from the Rec Field committee.
ACTION – CLERK
RFO position will now be combined with that of Parish Clerk. JW proposed, PM seconded, all agreed.
Financial statement was not available and will be presented at next meeting.
A transfer of £500 from the Investment account to the current account was agreed and the warrant signed. CLERK
Payment of hall rent proposed by N.P. and seconded by G.J. Cheque no. 395 for £9.00 to Leigh on Mendip Memorial Hall was made out and signed.
A request from Leigh on Mendip First School for a grant for the Out of Hours Clubs was discussed. A sum of £300 was proposed by P.M. seconded by G.J. and unanimously agreed. Cheque no. 396 for £300 to Leigh on Mendip First School Out of Hours Club was made out and signed after full consideration of the benefit of these clubs to the local community.
Mowing bill for cuts on 5 & 19 Sept, 3 Oct. totalling £121.86. Payment proposed by G.J, seconded by P.M. Cheque no. 40 made out and signed. CLERK
Review of past correspondence on the condition of roads and footpaths in the parish was postponed to the next meeting. CLERK
PLANNING
MT as neighbour declared an interest and took no part in the meeting.
Grove Shute Farm - application to erect stables. No objections and no comments.
MT returned to the meeting.
16 Park Hayes – application for extension to 1st floor + rooms in roof, erection of new conservatory and cloaks/lobby. No objections and no comments. CLERK

DATE OF NEXT MEETING –17 November 2003 at 7.30pm in the Hall. Future meetings will be held on the 3rd Monday of each month.
