LEIGH ON MENDIP PARISH
COUNCIL MEETING HELD ON Monday 19 JULY 2004 at 7.30pm

The MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING were accepted and signed.
MATTERS ARISING: - Damage to footbridge on footpath near Whitehole Farm still to be inspected and reported to MDC. ACTION - GJ
A letter to MDC re. disappointment on the consultation about possible future affordable housing at the west end of Leigh has been sent by a parishioner and a response received. Letter to the Parish Council received from Mrs Lance her views were duly noted and considered. Parish Council are still waiting to hear from Knightstone Housing Group.

PLANNING
Ebenezer Chapel amendment requested to previous application. Only alteration apparent that of provision of chimney. No objection provided this was only amendment.
QUARRY MATTERS
JW had contacted Ken Hobden of SCC submitting an expression of interest by the Parish Council in purchasing Sparks field to preserve this green area for the village. No objection has been expressed in principle by Hanson are SCC. Strong rumours suggest that Hanson wish to sell off surplus land. Proposal made by JW that an application be made to the Quarry Aggregates Fund for a grant to fund the purchase of this land, seconded by GJ.
FINANCE reports for May, June and July accepted and signed. Acceptance proposed by JW and seconded by CC.
Current a/c
Payment of hall rent proposed by CC and seconded by JW. Ch. no.406 to Leigh on Mendip Memorial Hall for £9 written and signed. Payment of SALC subs proposed by GJ and seconded by JW. Ch. no. 407 for £85.91 was written and signed.
Cemetery a/c
Payment of mowing bill for June was proposed by CC and seconded by JW. Ch. no 46 to D Jarvis for £87.50 was written and signed.
CEMETERY MATTERS - Cemetery subcommittee meeting scheduled for 10 August 2004 at Sawmill Cottage.
ROADS AND FOOTPATHS state of crossroads at Knaphill to be inspected and reported on to relevant authority. ACTION GJ
