LEIGH-ON-MRNDIP PARISH COUNCIL MEETING
        HELD ON MONDAY 12 MAY 1997 AT 7PM IN THE SCHOOL.

Councillors  present:  J Davis, M Loten,  D Pattison (Chairman), 
D Turner and J Wright.
Apologies were accepted from R Dixon.

PLANNING  APPLICATION  - extension to and land change of  use  at 
2 SPRING COTTAGES.  No objections to the plan as long as  natural 
stone was used as is shown in the plan.                   (CLERK)

FINANCE
The  accounts for the end of the year were discussed. Advice  had 
been taken from Peter Lacey at SALC and RD, their suggestions for 
amending the draft were discussed. The wording and final  formula 
were agreed and will be included in the final accounts.
The INSURANCE PREMIUM of £80.08p from Cornhill is due on 1  June.  
DP  proposed  payment, ML seconded, all agreed - cheque  193  was 
made out and signed.
The VAT claim of £372.55p had been paid into the PC current a/c. 

The  Meeting  was closed to the public so  that  the  Councillors 
present  could consider choosing an applicant to fill the  Parish 
Council Vacancy created by the resignation of S Haywood.
Three people had expressed interest in joing the PC, all of  very 
high calibre, after deliberation it was agreed to ask Paul  Moore 
to  join  the  Parish  Council.   The  Chairman  will  visit  the
