THE NEW BUILDING

Detailed plans for this part of the Community project have been prepared and the main lottery bid was submitted on 25 April.  We will know in August if we have got through the first stage successfully.

 

ACTIVE LIVING CENTRE (open to the over 50’s)

The Active Living Centre meetings at the Rec. Field Building have continued successfully.  In April we had presentations from the Somerset Waste Action Programme and the Frome police.  Booking for lunch for meetings is now essential – contact Graham or Caroline on 01373 813912 or 812889.

GARDENING GROUP (everyone welcome)

A group met on 25 April to consider forming a gardening club.  Further meetings were agreed, meeting at the Rec. Field:

Tues 22 May, 7pm – a visit to 3 Leigh on Mendip gardens (we hope this will encourage others to open up their gardens in the future)

Wed 20 June, 6.30pm – visit to Darkey Pang Tso Gang, Oakhill (Japanese garden) – numbers needed plus car drivers, £3 entry.

YOUNG PEOPLE’S ACTIVITIES

One of the objectives of the Community Project was to have activities for our young people and to start a youth club; we are working with the Somerset Rural Youth Project to seek to get activities for young people in the village.  The SRYP visited Leigh on 25 April and will come again on 2 May at 7pm for further discussion and rounders.
